As the sun sets, it gets cooler, and life shifts into another gear. These are the stands along Areos in Plaka down to Monastiraki.
The Athens Cathedral is still in the last blue light before complete darkness and the sharp shine of the streetlights.
The small streets East of Monastiraki and in Plaka liven up after dinner, and people saunter around and enjoy the quiet evening which is about to become not so quiet.
It may be getting dark in Athens, but this doesn't mean anybody go to bed. On the contrary - this is the time where everybody move outside and enjoy the night air in good company. This is the social time.
Symtagma Square does calm down somewhat, but only to give way to skateboarders taking advantage of the large smooth surface of the square.
The Parliament building on Syntagma is lit, although somewhat modestly. This may in part be because of the Evzones guarding the building. Notice the two dogs waiting to cross the street, standing on the middle section of the road? Dogs in Athens have an uncanny ability to handle the dense traffic.
Acropolis above the Plaka is strongly lit. You can just spot the large flag to the left, the Parthenon and the Erectheion in the middle and the Propylaia to the right.
